New Testament Study Bible Introduction

Dear reader, 

I have been studying Scripture from a young age. Beginning in 2022, however, I began reexamining the biblical text in a focused way around four questions: 

1. Who is God?

2. What is God’s plan for the world?

3. Who is Jesus?

4. Who are Christians?

   
   

The goal of this New Testament Study Bible is to examine what the New Testament says in answer to these questions. Because the Old Testament is also necessary to fully answer each question, I reference other parts of my blog throughout the Study Bible where additional Old Testament evidence is especially relevant.

For clarity, I color-code verses pertaining to these questions throughout each New Testament book:

1. Verses pertaining to God in general, or specifically to God the Father, are in blue. Verses pertaining specifically to the Holy Spirit, including evidence concerning the Spirit as our Mother, are in purple.

   
   

2. Verses pertaining to who Jesus is, including the question of whether Jesus is God, are in red.

   
   

3. Verses pertaining to universal salvation and whether it is God’s ultimate plan for the world are in orange.

   
   

4. Verses pertaining to who Christians are and what Christians are ultimately called and destined to become, including becoming like Christ, are in green.

   
   

Throughout the Study Bible, I also provide commentary on words, verses, and larger passages that are particularly relevant to these topics. These commentaries are color-coded as well.

At the end of each New Testament book, I provide a short summary explaining what that book contributes toward answering each of these four questions. I also include additional notes in pink where further explanation or reflection may be helpful.

I believe Scripture is inspired by God and completely true. My hope is that this Study Bible encourages you to examine these questions carefully for yourself and helps you better understand what the New Testament says about them.
